वसंतराव नाईक मराठवाडा कृषि विद्यापीठाच्या कुलगुरूपदी हैदराबाद येथील
केंद्रीय कोरडवाहु संशोधन संस्थेचे (क्रीडा) संचालक मा डॉ बी
वेंकटेश्वरलू यांची नियुक्ती करण्यात आली आहे. दि 23 जानेवारी रोजी कुलपती या
नात्याने महाराष्ट्र राज्याचे माननीय राज्यपाल श्री के शंकरनारायणन यांनी ही
नियुक्ती केली आहे. यासंदर्भात राजभवनातुन विद्यापीठाच्या कुलसचिव कार्यालयास दि
23 जानेवारी रोजी कळविण्यात आले.
मा डॉ बी वेंकटेश्वरलू हे मुळचे आंध्र प्रदेश राज्यातील असुन सन
2006 पासुन ते भारतीय कृषी संशोधन परिषदेंतर्गत असलेल्या हैदराबाद येथील केंद्रीय
कोरडवाहू शेती संशोधन संस्थेचे संचालक आहेत. जिरायत शेती व वातावरणातील बदल हा त्यांचा
संशोधनाचा विषय असुन ते मृद सुक्ष्मजीवशास्त्र विषयातील डॉक्टरेट आहेत. 1976
मध्ये हैद्राबाद येथील इक्रीसॅट या संस्थेत सहयोगी संशोधन म्हणुन संशोधन
कार्यास सुरूवात केली. ते 1977 मध्ये भारतीय कृषि संशोधन सेवेत रूजु झाले.
अनेक देशांना त्यांनी शास्त्रज्ञ या नात्याने व्दीपक्षीय कार्यक्रमांतर्गत
भेटी दिल्या असुन त्यांची अनेक संशोधन लेख आंतरराष्ट्रिय व राष्ट्रिय पातळी वर प्रकाशित
झालेले आहेत. मा डॉ बी वेंकटेश्वरलू लवकरच कुलगुरूपदी रूजु होणार असल्याचे कुलसचिव
श्री का वि पागिरे यांनी सांगितले.

Maharashtra Governor
and Chancellor of state universities, Hon’ble Shri K Shankaranarayanan has
appointed Hon’ble Dr. B. Venkateswarlu as the new Vice Chancellor of
the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krushi Vidyapeeth (Agricultural University),
Parbhani on 23rd Jan 2014.
Dr. B. Venkateswarlu has
been serving as the Director of Central Research Institute for Dryland
Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad from July, 2008. Dr B Venkateswarlu obtained his
M.Sc. from Osmania University in the year 1976. He went on to obtain his Ph.D.
in Soil Microbiology in the year 1987 from the University of Jodhpur. He has
started his career as a Research Associate in ICRISAT in 1976. He joined
Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of ICAR in 1977 and posted as Scientist S-1
at Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Jodhpur. He moved to CRIDA in
1986 as Senior Scientist and pursued research in the areas of soil fertility
management, biofertilizers and bio-pesticides. He was appointed Principal
Production System Scientist of National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP)
in 2001 in which he served upto 2006. He joined as Head of the Division of Crop
Science in 2006 and then appointed as Director of CRIDA in July, 2008. His
current areas of research include rainfed agriculture, rural livelihoods,
natural resource management and climate change. Hon Dr B Venkateswarlu is the fellow
of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), Indian Society of Oilseeds
Research, President of Indian Society of Dryland Agriculture Research, Member
of New York Academy of Sciences and life member of several academic and
professional societies in India. He visited several countries on bilateral
programmes as scientific expert. He has vast experience of teaching, administration
and research. He has 185 research publications to his credit.
He served in Marathwada
as Director of CRIDA, Dr Venkateswarlu visited different regions of Maharashtra
including Marathwada to monitor research projects. He analyzed field level
problems, prepared special project reports and impact studies. He maintained
regular contacts with scientists in Vidarbha, Marathwada and Western
Maharashtra working on Dryland Agriculture.
